June Moths

I had exams through most of June and so I was only able to get out once with my moth trap and that was towards the end of the month (25th). Moths are very new to me and so it has been very exciting seeing the huge diversity present solely in my garden (in Bronygarth)!
10 species were recorded in total the highlight for me being a Buff Tip on account of it's brilliant camouflage!

  • Beautiful Golden Y - Autographa pulchrina
  • Buff Ermine - Spilosoma lutea
  • Buff Tip - Phalera bucephala
  • Common Quaker - Orthosia cerasi
  • Flame - Axylia putris
  • Flame Shoulder - Ochroplura plecta
  • Heart and Dart - Agrotis exclamationis
  • Large Yellow Underwing - Noctua pronuba
  • Pale Tussock - Calliteara pudibunda
  • Triple Spotted Clay - Xestia ditrapezium
  • White Ermine - Spilosoma lubricipeda
